Arsenal use Mkhitaryan to announce Aubameyang transfer in bizarre video

Yo, Pierre

Yo, Pierre.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund – and announced the transfer using fellow January recruit Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The 28-year-old Gabon international joins the Gunners in a club record deal believed to be around £56m.

And, it wouldn’t be a modern football transfer without that social media video. Manchester United used cinematic visuals and a piano-playing Alexis Sanchez to announce the Chilean’s capture, while Manchester City unveiled Aymeric Laporte this week in a similarly dramatic fashion.

Now, Arsenal have used Mkhitaryan to officially welcome Aubameyang to the Emirates Stadium. The Armenia international, who joined the Gunners as part of the Sanchez deal, was front and centre of their Twitter video announcing Aubameyang. Here it is:

“Yo, Pierre, you wanna come out here?” That’s Mkhi’s line. Inspiring stuff.

Of course, it wasn’t a case of Mkhitaryan being picked at random – he enjoyed a productive partnership with Aubameyang during their time at Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal fans will hoping they can replicate their brilliant understanding in North London as the club tries to secure a top-four finish.
