BATE Borisov celebrate beating Arsenal in Burger King

Post-game burgers are integral to team bonding

Fresh from beating Arsenal on Thursday night, a troop of BATE Borisov players headed straight to Burger King to enjoy a chunky snack that truly rubbed in the Gunners’ bad night.

Football.london’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts snapped the trio of BATE stars tucking into the double whopper just hours after dispatching Unai Emery’s men in the first leg of their Europa League first knockout round tie.

In an age of highly analysed diets, fitness and health amongst professional athletes, it’s nice to see the Belarusian club’s players, former Arsenal and Barcelona star Alex Hleb among them, show their connection with the fans by enjoying a classic post-game meal.

The match itself finished 1-0 to Borisov, Stanislav Dragun heading home the winner at the halfway mark before Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette was shown a red card for elbowing an opposition player late on.

“Letting the team down like that is the worst feeling,” wrote the French forward on Twitter after the game.

“I should have stayed calm but it’s not always easy. Sorry. There are still 90 minutes to play and I believe that my teammates will make it to the next round.”
