11 pieces of respectful tat that it is your moral duty to buy

Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori

Ava Evans

You haven’t really remembered until you’ve drank a Remembrance Poppy cappuccino

It is important to remember our troops. It’s even more important to let everyone in your home, the park, or the office know that you are remembering the most.

So, true to the traditions of modern Britain, here’s a list of novelty items you can buy instead of doing anything particularly meaningful.

Some products do not offer a donation to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. For official merchandise you can donate here.

1. “Pull the Pin” Spiced Rum from the Royal British Legion

For £39.99, you can forget to remember with the Royal British Legion’s “Pull the Pin” Spiced Rum.

The Pull The Pin 100 special edition rum incorporates “10 specially selected spices and botanicals to create a well-balanced and smooth spiced rum”.

2. The “Poppy Peacebom Seedbom”

The best way to remember is with a grenade. Alongside your “Pull the Pin” spiced rum, why not brighten your garden with Kabloom’s Peacebom.

On their website, Kabloom say the “Seed bomb” contains corn poppies. And that “Poppies are a symbol of wartime remembrance, peace, and hope.”

To activate, “First shake the seedbom a few times to distribute seeds inside.

“Trigger by pulling the pin.

“Throw or drop onto bare open ground that’s in need of beautification.”

3. Remembrance Day Poppy Front Car Seat Covers

Set of two poppy-printed car seat covers, currently unavailable but keep checking here for a re-stock.

The special Remembrance cappuccino can be purchased for £3, with 50p from each cup going directly to the Poppy Appeal.

5. Swan Poppy Jug Kettle and Two-Slice Toaster With Free Delivery

If you would prefer to enjoy coffee in the comfort of your own home, why not consider a Remembrance Poppy kettle from Swan.

The set, currently unavailable, was on offer for £109.98 on website Groupon.

Listed as “In a Nutshell: Featuring an attractive floral poppy design, this stainless steel kettle and toaster set can be an ideal complement to any kitchen”

The Swan kettle is still available separately from the set here for £39.99

6. Lest we forget goalkeeper glove

Currently unavailable, but usually on sale here for £39.99.

The shop donates 20% of all sales to an unspecified veteran charity.

1 save = 1 respect.

7. Walmart’s 3-piece Remembrance Poppy Bedding

Not linked to the Royal British Legion, but still good for remembering. Make a poppy the last thing you see before falling asleep.

The three-piece bedding set featuring a bright poppy flower remembrance day symbol can be found here.

8. Battle of Britain Memorial Sausages

Rooks Butchers in Kent have announced their Battle of Britain Memorial Sausages.

The six-pack sausage recently became the UK Supreme Sausage Champion at UK Sausage week.

The pork sausages are made with Spitfire ale.

9. The Royal British Legion Charity Poppy Cat and Dog Bowtie

A £3 bow-tie available from Pets at Home is the perfect way for your pet to respect.

Pets at Home say: “The Royal British Legion Charity Poppy Cat and Dog Bowtie is so much more than an accessory, it is a symbol of love, hope and remembrance for your pet to proudly wear.”

Purchasers can share their support using #PetswithPoppies.

10. Poppy bank card from Revolut

If you’d like to purchase any of the items listed on this article, why not buy in solidarity with Revolut’s limited edition Poppy bank card.

Announcing the partnership with the Royal British Legion, Revolut said they were proud to launch a card that featured the red poppy “a symbol of both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.”

Revolut added: “Plus, every Poppy card is made from recycled materials.”

11. The Nov11mobile

Last year, visitors to Bexhill Seafront were invited to decorate an ornamental car as part of the town’s Remembrance commemorations.

Guests had to B.Y.O.P (bring your own poppy), the council having been unable to provide any, due to covid safety precautions.

The car is not for sale, but good inspiration for those wishing to remember in transit.
