GB News presenter Beverley Turner has denied any riots took place in Belfast this week in an extraordinary exchange on the channel.
But according to GB News’ Turner, the violence didn’t amount to ‘riots’, with the presenter even denying that any homes had been burnt down.
Turne made the outrageous claims during a heated exchange with commentator Matthew Stadlen on her show in the early hours of June 10, the second night of racist riots in Northern Ireland.
After Stadlen called out the riots, Turner said: “They weren’t riots, there weren’t people marauding through the streets with pitchforks.”
When Stadlen pointed out that a house had been set on fire in the “disgraceful, violent behaviour,” Turner claimed this was not the case.
She accused the commentator of “rage-baiting”, adding: “It isn’t that dramatic, there aren’t bodies being piled up in hospitals.”
Stadlen could barely hide his astonishment as Turner then said “there was no riot, there is not a house that has been burnt down.”
She claimed the clearly racist violence in Belfast was not “far-right.”
In the end, Turner cut Stadlen off from her programme as he pushed back on her shocking claims.
Sharing the exchange on X, Stadlen said it was “quite possibly the most extraordinary exchange” he’d ever been involved in on TV.
There have been violent scenes in Belfast this week in the wake of a horrific knife attack in the city. After a Sudanese man was arrested and charged with attempted murder, masked individuals took to the streets and burnt down homes and cars in abhorrent scenes of racist violence.
