‘Two beautiful souls taken so tragically’

A woman and a young girl killed in Leeds on Monday when an Audi crashed into a Jaguar dealership in Leeds were a mother and daughter on their way to nursery.

West Yorkshire Police on Tuesday named the pair as 27-year-old Justyne Hulboj, and Lena Czepczor, 4.

The pair were pronounced dead at the scene after an Audi TTRS crashed into a wall outside the Vertu Jaguar Leeds car dealership on Scott Hall Road, in the Sheepscar area of the city, around 8.30am.

Police said it is believed the Audi – which has the most powerful five-cylinder engine ever found in an Audi road car – was “travelling in convoy with a grey BMW 135i prior to the collision”.

Three people have now been arrested in connection with the collision.

A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of two offences of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody. A second man, 34, was arrested for the same thing and also remains in custody.

A 65-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and released on bail.

West Yorkshire Police said officers had spoken to a “number of witnesses but continue to urge anyone with dashcam footage or who has seen any part of this incident, including the manner of driving of the Audi and BMW prior to this collision, to make contact”.

Justyne and Lena have been remembered by devastated family, friends and neighbours.

A handwritten note left at the scene next to a pile of flowers and teddies says. “Heaven gained two angels. Two beautiful souls taken so tragically.”

Tributes have also been left on social media. One person wrote on Facebook: “Very heart-breaking.

“The little girl goes to my daughter’s school and sometimes she goes to breakfast club [with her]. She has been so sad about this.”

A second commenter wrote: “Condolences to the families of the mother and her daughter. RIP.”

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy, of the force’s major collision enquiry team, said on Monday that the incident was “absolutely tragic”.

He added: “We are working to support the family of the woman and child involved.”
