Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has described the shooting down of a Russian jet by Turkey as a "stab in the back" by "accomplices of terrorists".

The Sukhoi Su-24 jet was reportedly warned 10 times before being brought down near the Turkish-Syrian border by two Turkish F16 jets, after their military claimed that it had violated the country's air space. President Vladimir Putin Visits USA House After earlier reports suggested that the Russian jet's pilots managed to eject, Sky News now report that both pilots are dead. Putin has claimed that the jet was shot down over Syria, 1km from the border with Turkey. He has warned that the incident will have "serious consequences" for Russia's relationship with Turkey as the investigation into the incident continues.
