‘You were just “saved” from washing dishes’

A shocking video has emerged of an unexploded missile that landed in someone’s kitchen, lodging itself in a cupboard.

The huge rocket landed in a residential area of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, on Sunday, as the city continues to come under heavy bombardment from Russian forces.

The clip was shared on TikTok by @pd05763, and shows the missile upright in a kitchen.

Since it was posted, the video has racked up 2.5m views and almost 135,000 likes.

The TikToker later uploaded a video of the missile being removed by a bomb disposal team. They don’t mess around either, giving the missile a good old shake.

Many in the comments tried to see the humour in the situation.

One person said: “When you wash the dishes and they throw more at you.”

Another commented: “You don’t understand, you were just ‘saved’ from washing dishes.”

And a third wrote: “Only our people can write such comments in such a situation, I adore our people.”

Since the start of the war, there have been an estimated 450 civilian casualties in Kharkiv.

In an update on Saturday (March 19), the UK’s Ministry of Defence tweeted: “Ukrainian forces around Kyiv and Mykolaiv continue to frustrate Russian attempts to encircle the cities. The cities of Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Mariupol remain encircled and subject to heavy Russian shelling.”

On Friday (March 19), one person was killed and another 11 injured when a multi-storey building in the city was hit by an airstrike.
