Aslan, like many Syrians, has made the long journey to Europe on foot.
But the 17-year-old made the 300-mile journey from Damascus with a special companion – his dog, Rose.
Despite being told on numerous occasions that he should leave the dog behind in his war-torn country, Aslan refused, and was filmed with Rose on the Greek island of Lesbos.
Speaking in English, Aslan is asked why he ignored those who suggested he leave the dog behind.
“I love my dog,” he explains, before putting her in her carry case and continuing on his journey.
