A formal investigation has now been launched
An alleged flasher was shot dead by an elderly nudist after he was caught pleasuring himself in front of a naked woman on a nudist resort in France.
The unnamed 46-year-old was shot with a rifle at the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage on the naturist beach “La Mama” in the eastern area of Ain on Saturday morning. Hundreds of beach visitors witnessed the ordeal.
According to the French outlet Le Parisien, the “exhibitionist” had “insulted and threatened” beachgoers before “masturbating in front of a woman.” Upon arriving at his regular spot, the anonymous gunman and hunting enthusiast got into a heated argument with the flasher.
After just a few minutes, the 76-year-old took out his hunting rifle and fired three times, with at least one hitting the man’s chest. Nearby police were on the scene in minutes and closed down the beach while they carried out their investigation.
As reported on France3, the gunman owns a firearm licence that permits him to carry the gun in a shooting club environment. It does not allow him to carry it in public spaces. He is, however, unknown to officials.
Witnesses on the beach said the man did not resist arrest and a medical team evaluated whether the elderly man was able to be detained.
The police have now launched a full investigation under the research brigade of the gendarmerie of Trévoux and are questioning witnesses.
