Dramatic footage has shown a Ryanair plane's wing which struck the runway during an aborted landing in Ireland on Thursday (11 September).
In the footage, while touching down at Dublin Airport, passengers are heard screaming as the Boeing 737 jolts and tips to one side.
The landing was then aborted by the pilots who took the plane back into the air to perform a go-around.
“On landing in Dublin yesterday evening (10 Sept) Ryanair flight FR9457 from Bologna suffered a minor wing tip impact”, a Ryanair spokesperson said.
“The aircraft landed safely and all passengers offloaded normally. Our engineers have repaired the wing tip and the aircraft has since gone back into service this morning (11 Sept).”
The Ryanair flight had taken off from Bologna in Italy.
The aircraft tipped onto its right-hand side and its wing tip struck the runway as it touched down.
Around 15 minutes later, the pilots were then able to bring the plane safely back down.
The latest incident comes amid calls by the boss of Ryanair yesterday for the chief executive of Britain's main air traffic control provider to quit after technical issues caused major flight disruption.
On Thursday, dozens more flights to and from Britain were axed as chaos caused by major technical issues with air traffic control systems continued for a third day.
On 11 September a total of 51 services at UK airports were affected.
Most affected was Heathrow with 28 flights cancelled, including 21 arrivals and seven departures.
At Gatwick a further 11 were cancelled while five were cancelled at Glasgow.
Other cancellations were confirmed in Aberdeen, London City, Luton and Manchester.
