Labour are topping the polls

A new poll from Focaldata puts Labour on 38 per cent, two points ahead of the Conservatives who trail at 36 per cent.

The poll surveyed a sample of 22,186 people, asking which party they would intend to vote for in a general election. While Labour are ahead in terms of number of votes, the Tories are still projected to win the most seats, while losing their majority.

Prime minister Boris Johnson is also projected to lose his seat in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, west London.

Johnson faced a tough race against Labour’s Ali Milani in 2019, but retained his seat and won an overwhelming majority on the back of the Tories’ ‘Get Brexit Done’ campaign.

The Liberal Democrats and the Tories are both projected to have lost votes since the general election in 2019, while Labour have made the most progress, climbing six per cent. Despite Brexit being done, the Brexit Party have also made gains alongside the Greens.
