Pep Guardiola has spoken out over rumours he could leave Manchester City to take up the permanent manager position at England.
Guardiola’s contract with the current Premier League champions expires at the end of this season.
Despite Lee Carsley taking up the reigns on an interim basis at the Three Lions, Guardiola has been heavily linked to the job since Gareth Southgate left at the conclusion of the European Championships.
Speaking of the rumours the 53-year-old said: “Leaving City? It’s not true, I haven’t decided yet. And it is not even true that I will be the next England coach.
“If I had decided I would say it. I don’t know either, anything can happen.”

On Sunday, Lee Carsley’s England side beat Finland 3-1 but appeared to rule himself out of the permanent position after he said England ‘deserve a world class coach who has won trophies’.
Earlier in the week he said he hoped to return to his role managing the Under-21’s.
In his press conference after the game he was pressed on why he was so reluctant to state one way or another whether he wanted the job to which he replied: “I’m reluctant because in the past when I’ve done this interim/caretaker role I’ve gone so far down the “I don’t want the job” that I’ve actually not done the job.”
However, former United captain Roy Keane has endorsed Guardiola for the role.
He said: “Go after Pep, go for the best. Pep’s contract is up the summer. The FA have to go for the best guy. I don’t know if finances will play a part in it.
“If Lee obviously rules himself [out], and he’s not interested, and that seems to be the noises coming out, then the FA better get busy and get the right man.”
