Kit Connor is in talks to play Cyclops in Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot, with the Heartstopper star circling the role of Scott Summers as the studio assembles its new mutant line-up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Connor is being eyed for the part in the film from director Jake Schreier, who most recently helmed Thunderbolts. The casting continues a busy stretch for Marvel following a recent box-office record with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The new-look team is already taking shape. Samara Weaving has been eyed to play Emma Frost, while Sadie Sink has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jean Grey, having been introduced in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Cyclops, whose real name is Scott Summers, channels his powers through concussive energy beams fired from his eyes.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Deadline first reported Connor's involvement, and several other actors have been linked with the project as Jake Schreier fills out his cast.
Should his deal close, Connor would step into a role previously played by James Marsden, marking one of the highest-profile jobs yet for the rising British actor. Marvel has not confirmed the casting.
