UFC star calls out Joe Rogan over 'upsetting' physique comments

Lots of headlines appeared following UFC 329 in Las Vegas. Between Connor McGregor stepping out of the fight within a few minutes, to Paddy Pimblett impressing with a first round submission win. 

Lower down the fightcard, Whittaker took on Nikita Krylov in a third-round knock-out win in favor of the Australian.

This fight was Whittaker’s debut in the light deavyweight division, and was a first win for him since June 2024. 

Robert Whittaker’s physique looked notably different from his days of fighting in middleweight.

Whittaker was crowned champion at UFC 213, on 9 July 2017. Almost 10 years later, jumping to a weight class above what he used to fight in.

Despite winning his fight in fashion, Whittaker was met with ‘upsetting’ comments on his physique and performance by UFC Commentator and podcaster, Joe Rogan.

Whittaker’s response to Joe Rogan’s comments

The Australian has responded to the commentator’s comments via Bedtime MMA podcast.

"You know what it is. You should see the amount of memes that came out after that commentary; it’s crazy. It was wild,” Whittaker said.

"Obviously, this is my first fight at light heavyweight. First weight cut at light heavyweight. First re-feed. 

“But I felt strong, and I was still fast. I walked in there about 103 kilos (227 pounds), which is normal because I’m a heavyset guy, and I still had my speed behind me.

Despite the unnerving comments made on his performance, Whittaker goes on to say he was “really happy and comfortable with my debut in the division."
