Nintendo could be about to turn your smartphone into a Gameboy

Could classic characters like Mario be coming to your smartphone?

Remember the good old days of Super Mario and the futuristic 90s Nintendo handheld games console?

Well it looks like the Gameboy glory days could be making a return very soon – but this time on your smartphone.

The legends at Nintendo want to bring this retro pocket-sized fun box kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. And boy are we excited here at JOE.

The iconic little console brought us gems like Mario, Zelda and Tetris that lit up our pre-pubescent faces as Oasis topped the charts.

But as Oasis look like they could be making a comeback, so too could some of Nintendo’s classic cult characters.

Bosses at the games giant, who brought us classics like Goldeneye and Donkey Kong, announced the move into mobile alongside multi-billion dollar firm DeNa which was broadcast on YouTube.

Nintendo also announced it is working on a new console dubbed the NX, reports Tech Crunch.

But fanboys (like us here at JOE) are excited at what the games maker could bring to the mobile platform.
