A police officer and three other people have died during Wednesday afternoon’s attack in Westminster.

An officer was stabbed close to the Houses of Parliament by an attacker who was later shot by police. According to the BBC, a minister who attempted to give the officer mouth-to-mouth resuscitation has since indicated that they died at the scene.

Three other people, including the suspected attacker, have been confirmed dead by Acting Deputy Commissioner Mark Rowely.

Rowley also confirmed that 20 other people, including three officers, are injured.

The Metropolitan Police Service have confirmed in a statement that a full counter-terrorism inquiry is now under way.

A crime scene will remain in place in Westminster until further notice.
