Liverpool are 'exploring a deal' to sign Real Sociedad player and Spanish international Martin Zubimendi, a fresh report from David Ornstein has revealed.
It is understood that the club want to make him the first marquee signing of the new Arne Slot era as they look to bolster midfield options.
Reportedly the player has a release clause of just over £50million, with the Reds scouting for a new number six all summer.
Now Slot has fully assessed his squad, recruiting is underway.
As for Zubimendi, the player came through the ranks at Sociedad and has since made 188 appearances for the club following his debut in 2019.
Last season, his Sociedad side reached the round of 16 in the Champions League and resultantly the player earned a regular place in the Spain squad.
He then featured in the second-half of Spain's famous final victory over England, replacing the injured Rodri at half-time.
