The attention turned to Katie and how Pistorius had contacted her through private messages on Twitter.
When asked how it began she said: "I mentioned him in a column I did for a magazine and it started from there. He was thanking me and just I thought, 'Oh, is this really him?' My brother said, 'Look at your messages', and then he had a verified tick. It was definitely him."
But she knew that she had to put an end to it, saying: "It got to the point where I thought, 'Actually, I don’t want to message. I don’t want to cross that barrier where I’ve got dialogue'."
She added: "I wasn't being biased or anything because at the time it was all in the media talking about the case. I was saying you’ve got to let the courts decide. Don’t judge anyone until the courts decide."

Pistorius is due be sentenced next month for the murder of Steenkamp. The ex-Paralympian’s culpable homicide conviction and its accompanying five-year prison sentence was overturned by South Africa's supreme court last December, when appeal judges instead ruled him guilty of murder.
His sentencing hearing will take place from June 13 - 17. Right now he is living at his uncle’s home in Pretoria, and remains on bail until the hearing. Pistorius is wearing a tracking device on his wrist to curtail his movements outside the home.Explore more on these topics:
