Holidaymakers advised not to travel at the end of the month

One UK travel agency has suspended all services as British holidaygoers are left “stranded” at their destination, with the company saying its operations have been halted “until further notice.”

The company said an update is expected later this week as it is seeking accounting and legal advice over its future.

Founded in 2012, Wayfairer Travel operates in far away destinations such as Botswana, Japan, Peru and the Maldives.

One Wayfairer Travel spokesperson said: “We are truly sorry for the concern and uncertainty caused by the current situation.

“At this stage, we are unable to provide further information until we have received the appropriate accounting and legal advice.

“We appreciate your patience and sincerely apologise that we cannot provide greater clarity at this time.”

Wayfairer was notified by the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust (ABTOT) that they were “unable to continue trading and is taking steps to appoint an administrator.”

“Because Wayfairer cannot currently provide certainty that affected packages will be delivered, ABTOT is putting arrangements in place to assist eligible UK customers,” said ABTOT in a statement.

Holidaygoers have been advised to “not travel” if they have booked vacations prior to or on 30 September.

“If your departure is after 30 September 2026, await further information unless you are contacted directly with different instructions,” said ABTOT.

If you have booked a holiday with Wayfairer prior to the end of the month, the organisation is now putting arrangements in place to assist eligible UK customers whose holidays have been affected.
