Jeremy Clarkson issues blunt warning after 11 sheep stolen from Diddly Squat Farm

The sheep are suspected to have vanished while cameras weren't rolling

The missing animals were discovered when Clarkson was going through his flock with Kaleb Cooper, his co-star on Clarkson’s Farm. 

According to The Mirror, the pair realised that 11 sheep were unaccounted for, with the animals believed to have been stolen.

Clarkson said he was particularly puzzled by how anyone could have managed to take them given how closely the farm is monitored for filming. 

“We have a film crew here all the time,” he pointed out, adding that there is also “a drone in the air” regularly. He suspects the sheep may have been taken on a day or night when the cameras were not rolling.

The disappearance has also come at a significant financial cost, with the 11 sheep estimated to be worth around £2,000.

Speaking to The Sun about reporting the theft, Clarkson joked that he felt like he had stepped back centuries when he finally managed to get through to the police.

“The police have been very good, actually. Once you go through 700 hours of recorded messages, I got through to a girl. I said: ‘I know it's going to sound like I'm from 1856, but I've had some sheep stolen’.”

The officer apparently recognised Clarkson and his farm, responding: “Oh, not your Easycares.”

Clarkson confirmed that the missing animals were Easycare sheep, a low-maintenance breed that does not need shearing and requires very little shepherding or veterinary care.

Clarkson has also made it clear that he wants whoever took the sheep to bring them back, with the incident clearly getting under his skin.

He admitted that losing animals from the farm had hit him particularly hard, explaining that while it is difficult to form a close bond with a sheep, knowing they had been taken from a place where they were safe and happy made the situation even more upsetting.

“It's upset me . . . you can't ever form a bond with a sheep. Anyone who has anything stolen, it's awful, but to have animals stolen, it's really galling. They were happy here. This is my favourite field on the farm.”

He also issued a rather more direct warning to whoever may be responsible, saying: “We're armed. Just so they know. It p*** me off. Honestly, it just p***** me off.”**

At this stage, Clarkson does not know exactly when the theft took place. He suspects the problem could be bigger than the 11 missing sheep initially discovered, saying he believes “some [are] missing from the other field a mile or so away” as well.
