70,000 stolen pints of Guinness destined to be delivered to pubs

Thieves stole Guinness with two lorries

Police say that around 800 barrels, holding approximately 88 pints each, were stolen at the Whitehouse Industrial Estate on Aston Lane in Runcorn.

The thieves are said to have picked up the barrels of Guinness with two lorries, with one shipment that left around 19:45 while the other took off at 21:30.

All barrels were intended to be delivered at pubs prior to the theft. 

Detective Sergeant McClatchy said: "It is famously said that 'Guinness is good for you', but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for."

Police believe that the people driving the trailers were men. 

The first driver is described as white with a short dark beard and he was wearing a beanie hat, while the second is believed to have been wearing a cap.

It is estimated the value of the stolen lorries were £90,000, totalling the theft at £205,000.
