Felix will leave Atletico Madrid in the summer
Joao Felix has been offered a route back into the Premier League, just days after being told that he won’t be joining Chelsea permanently.
Felix moved to Stamford Bridge on loan in January however following the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino has seen the former Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain boss want to put his own stamp on the squad, with the Portugal international not a part of those plans.
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has also deemed Felix surplus to requirements and will entertain offers in the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Express though, Felix may be given a lifeline in England with Aston Villa reportedly interested in his signature.
Villa will play in the Conference League next season and under Unai Emery, have ambitions to challenge the top order in the Premier League.
The West Midlands oufit were one of the clubs linked with the 23-year-old but decided that his wages were too expensive and preferred to play for a team in Europe.
Back in April, Emery said: “He’s a special player and was not totally impossible for us, but he wanted to play for a team in the Champions League.
“We are realistic about how we can improve and how we can add players to improve our squad.
“He has a high salary and Chelsea paid a lot of money for that. I like him but we were never really in the running for him.”
