Jeremy Corbyn rips David Cameron over being a fake football fan

"Leicester Villa!"

Jordan Gold

That moment when you forget which football team you’re supposed to support…

David Cameron probably cares as much about football as you do about Keynesian economics, but that hasn’t stopped him pretending to have a clue in the past. He even once forgot which team he ~supports~.

It’s an easy mistake to make, I guess – if your knowledge of football is limited solely to kit colours.

Now, opposition leader and ardent Arsenal fan Jeremy Corbyn won’t let him forget the historic balls-up.

Corbyn, who is regularly seen at the Emirates and once said he lives “so close to the club” that he “can walk to matches”, took the PM to task over his faux-fan status at PMQs this week.

Met with cheers and jeers and shouts of “Leicester Villa?!”, the exchange went a little something like this:

Cameron: I know the whole house will wish to join me in congratulating Leicester City on winning the Premier League title. Five thousand-to-one outsiders at the start of the season, they showed superb ability, incredible resilience and a great team ethic.

Corbyn: I join the prime minister in congratulating Leicester City on their amazing achievement. I hope it’s not an indication that he’s going to start supporting another football team. Or is he going to stick with the two he’s got already…

Savage.
