The chef’s problems are nothing new

Gino D’Acampo’s My Pasta Bar Chain has reportedly gone into liquidation owing millions of pounds to creditors.

The chef is said to have called in liquidators with The Sun reporting that the chain owes £4,939,332 to 49 creditors, £113,975 to HMRC, and £37,887 in staff wages, according to Companies House paperwork.

Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant chain is not said to be affected by the liquidation.

The My Pasta Bar chain had eateries in Fleet Street, Leadenhall Market, and Bishopsgate, but two of the branches did not reopen after the pandemic.

According to MailOnline, the Leadenhall Market site still features its logos, but a sign in the window apologises for its closure due to Covid. The same notice was said to be on display at the Fleet Street restaurant.

In October 2020, it was reported that D’Acampo was bailed out by Iceland founder, Sir Malcolm Walker, and senior executive Tarsem Dhaliwal.

The chef was said to have been rescued with a £12.9 million bailout, This Is Money reported. That, the publication said, followed four years of losses totalling £7.6million.
