Football legend Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer, his family have said.
The former England manager and forward, 74, was recently admitted to hospital after "ongoing abdominal symptoms", a statement has said.
"These investigations have revealed a diagnosis of cancer, for which Kevin will undergo treatment," it stated.
Keegan is associated widely with the football clubs Liverpool and Newcastle United, the second of which he played for and managed, twice.
He is renowned as 'King Kev' for his footballing success.
Newcastle United have since released the following statement:
"Our former player & manager, Kevin Keegan will undergo treatment after being diagnosed with cancer having been admitted to hospital for further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms. King Kev. We're with you every step of the way. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery."
