Fast and the Furious and New Girl actor dies aged 61

Fast and Furious and New Girl actor, Peter Navy Tuiasosopo has died aged 61.

The actor who also appeared in Street Fighter and Magnum P.I. died in Phoenix, Arizona.

His son, Manoah Peter Tuiasosopo took to Facebook to share a statement.

He wrote: “With a heavy heart, my family and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Our father Peter N. Tuiasosopo passed away this morning at 3:16am.

“My dad lived an amazing life and in no way does his impact stop here. We will continue to live with him in spirit, and as saddened as we are, he is without a doubt in Heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, daughter, and Jesus, and no longer in pain. His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt.”

The actor is reported to have died of heart complications.

Tuiasosopo began his acting career in 1991 and has since appeared in the 2021 reboot of Magnum PI, Mayans MC, New Girl, Black-ish, Ray Donovan, and NCIS.

His most iconic role came as E-Honda in the 1994 movie Street Fighter, starring Jean Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen, and Raul Julia.

He also starred in Fast and the Furious, Charlie’s Angels, The Scorpion King, BASEketball and Austin Powers: Goldmember.

Paying tribute on Twitter (X), Ming-Na Wen penned: “I’m so very sad to learn the passing of my ‘Honda’, Peter N. Tuiasosopo. We had a blast on ‘Streetfighter.’ Many fond memories working with Peter. A teddy bear of a man. Condolences to his family & loved ones.”

“Peter Navy Tuiasosopo (E-Honda, Street Fighter Live Action Film 1994) has passed away. Thank You, Mr Tuiasosopo for making the character come alive. RIP,” one fan wrote as they remembered the late actor online in the wake of his death. Another added: “We’ve lost a legend! Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, best known for his role in the live-action *Street Fighter*, has passed away. His larger-than-life presence brought unforgettable characters to life on screen. Thank you for the memories, Peter!”
