England fans want him in now

England fans have named the man they want to replace Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2024.

The Three Lions were beaten by Brazil and drew to Belgium thanks to Jude Bellingham’s late equaliser during their March international friendlies, leaving some fans fearing another summer of disappointment in Germany.

Southgate’s side are one of the favourites to win the competition and with the quality and depth in the squad, everybody expects them to reach the latter stages.

But some England supporters aren’t convinced and want change already. Some have even named who they want instead, with many suggesting Jose Mourinho as the man for the job.

“Have absolutely no faith Gareth Southgate will lead this England squad to glory. Get Jose Mourinho in. It won’t be pretty, we won’t win many fans from overseas. But through some tight 1-0 wins, a bit of luck and some winning mentality and belief, he could win us the Euros,” one fan wrote on X.

“We should honestly looking at bringing Mourinho in as England manager,” commented another.

A third said: England need to be ruthless and sack Southgate now and bring Mourinho in. He’d win the Euros this summer.

“It’s not too late to get rid of Southgate before the euros, Mourinho is free,” chimed another.

Southgate future to be decided after Euros

Germany 2024 will be the fourth major tournament Southgate has been in charge for.

The progression from his very first with England is plain for everyone to see however there is a feeling that this may be last chance saloon to win anything.

His contract expires at the end of the tournament and while contract talks haven’t been on the list of things to do, there’s a growing consensus that a fresh start for both may be needed.

Manchester United is one possible option for the 53-year-old. It feels like every other day there is some sort of link tipping him to replace Erik ten Hag in the summer.

Another option that came out of nowhere is Liverpool too. After all, they are looking for a manager since Jurgen Klopp is leaving this summer.

Glen Johnson, a former Liverpool and England international, even said he would be his preferred choice over the sought-after Xabi Alonso.
