However, just 20 minutes into the more than three hour flight, the aircraft encountered serious turbulence that rocked everyone onboard.

Travelling at 485mph and at an altitude of 28,000ft the plane was just off the heel of Italy not far from the Puglia region.

The incident which happened on Monday led to two cabin crew members being thrown into the walls of the plane who had been preparing food for passengers, as reported by the MailOnline.

The injuries sustained by the crew proved serious enough for the flight to be diverted and make an emergency landing at Rome's Fiumicino airport.

The incident came just hours following unfavourable weather in Italy which saw the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht that capsized off Sicily after being running into an unforgiving waterspout.
