Dead skydiver found on homeowner's front lawn - CCTV captures 'hard landing'

The property is just a few blocks away from a skydiving centre

An investigation is underway after a skydiver was found dead on the front lawn of a home in Florida.

The man’s body was found on Saturday on the lawn of the property on Merry Lane in Titusville, the local fire department said.

He was wearing parachute attire and gear, with CCTV footage from the property capturing the moment he landed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a statement.

Surveillance footage captured the skydiver descending in the reflection of a car parked on the front driveway of James Sconier’s home, WKMG reported.

Sconier told the station: “I was asking the person that was laying on the ground, ‘Hey man can you hear me, can you hear me?’ But he did not answer.”

He continued: “Look at the video and look at what happened. Why did he fall so hard if all the safety mechanism in place? Something tells me there’s a problem there.”

Nicole Lacount told WKMG that she went outside her aunt’s house to see what was happening after hearing an ambulance and a fire truck go past.

“I work in the medical field. That’s the worst I’ve ever seen,” she told the station.

The street where the man landed is just a few blocks away from the Skydive Space Center. The facility has not commented on whether the man came from their company.

Police said they would release more information, including the man’s name, on Monday.
