There will be no inquest held.

George Michael died of natural causes related to heart disease, a coroner has confirmed.

The 53-year-old singer was found dead on Christmas Day at his Oxfordshire home, and the BBC report that coroner Darren Salter has attributed Michael’s death to ‘dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver’.

There will be no inquest in the death of the London-born musician, on the grounds that he was found to have died of natural causes.

Tributes poured in immediately after Michael’s death, while the public also quickly learned of the many acts of kindness carried out by the Wham frontman during his life.

The coroner’s statement reads as follows:

‘Inquires into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post-mortem report received.

‘As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further enquiries.

‘No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy.’
