Comedian Sir Ken Dodd has died aged 90

RIP, a comedy legend.

Liverpudlian comedian Sir Ken Dodd has died aged 90, his publicist has confirmed. It comes after he secretly married Anne Jones, his partner of 40 years, on Friday at their home in Liverpool, after he was discharged from hospital following six weeks of treatment for a severe chest infection. His publicist Robert Holmes told the Press Association: “They got the registrar and were married in the house. He died two days later on Mother’s Day. Anne is obviously very upset. To my mind, he was one of the last music hall greats.” Holmes added: “With Ken gone, the lights have been turned out in the world of variety. He was a comedy legend and genius.” He was famous for his stand-up shows with his Diddy Men and the tickling stick.
