Chilling CCTV images show moment rapist carries victim through city centre

Austin Osayande is due to be sentenced next month

Chilling CCTV images show the moment a rapist carries his victim through a city center in the early hours of the morning before attacking her a short distance away.

The 24-year-old woman was walking to get a taxi home in Leeds after a night out when she was approached by Austin Osayande around 5am on 14 August 2015.

Osayande spoke to the woman and walked alongside her before he picked her up in his arms and carried her to the scene of the attack a short distance away, West Yorkshire Police said.

Wearing a long black overcoat and black trousers and with a shaven head, he is seen in earlier CCTV footage loitering in a car park and approaching a woman on the street.

Police released the footage in their hunt for Osayande but did not catch him until September last year when he committed another sexual assault.

Osayande faced a trial after being charged with rape in 2015 and a sexual assault on a woman in the city on September 10 last year.

The footage emerged again this week when Osayande on Thursday admitted one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration at Leeds Crown Court.

He was remanded in custody ahead of his sentencing on 23 February.

The footage of Osayande follows similarly disturbing images that circulated on Thursday of Angel Lynn being kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, Chay Bowskill.

The 19-year-old was left unable to walk, talk or feed herself without 24-hour care after exiting a speeding vehicle on the A6 towards Loughborough in September 2020.

Bowskill, who was helped by his friend, Rocco Sansome, also 20, were both jailed.
