No more streaming from the Government’s Big Brother

The country was baffled, disgusted, and outright obsessed with the Matt Hancock scandal. It was the nightmare that kept on giving, and it’s not quite over yet.

Sajid Javid has been appointed as the new Health Secretary, having previously served as Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer. Since his resignation, Hancock has also been reported to the police.

Sadly, there will not be any more stellar footage from the dreaded camera, as the department has decided to shut it down, as confirmed by Javid on Monday.

“I haven’t disabled the camera that you are talking about, but it has been disabled by the department,” he said.

“I think for security, it is just common sense… I don’t think, as a general rule, there should be cameras in the secretary of state’s office.

“I’ve never known that in the other five departments that I’ve run, and I am not really sure why there was one here.

“But I am sure there will be more to this as the whole incident is investigated.”

The footage, which eventually led to Hancock’s resignation, has also prompted concern from some quarters over security protocols and questions surrounding how a government security camera was leaked to the media.
