British SAS sniper takes out three ISIS fighters from 1km away with incredible shot

An elite British SAS sniper killed three ISIS militants through a 10-inch wall from more than a kilometre away.

The crack marksman's incredible shooting took down the three terrorist fighters in a heavily fortified tower near the Iraqi city of Ramadi. The sniper, who is thought to be one of the best in the SAS, hit his targets through a wall with armour-piercing rounds with his semiautomatic Barrett Light .50 calibre rifle. The triple kill reportedly saved 20 lives, according to military chiefs, and avoided the use of airstrikes amid fears of civilian casualties. ‘The command post was well fortified,' A military source told the Daily Star Sunday: They considered an air strike but that would cause too much collateral damage.

‘They looked at a rocket attack but there was the possibility that the blast might cause the building to collapse and intelligence suggested there were civilians being held in the lower storey and in buildings close by.

‘A staff sergeant in charge of one of the SAS teams working with the Iraqis came up with the idea of shooting through the wall.

‘It was a case of “there’s nothing to lose”.’

As the sniper gunned down his target the building was stormed and soldiers saw the devastating effectiveness of the SAS sniper.

A source said: ‘The bodies of the Islamic State fighters had been absolutely pulverised.

‘One had been decapitated and another had been cut in half. It was a real scene of carnage.’
