Woramet Ben Taotam 16, was beaten to death last weekend

The body of a teenager accused of leading a British boy to his death in Thailand has been found, police have confirmed.

Woramet Ben Taotam 16, was beaten to death last weekend after being lured to a forest by 15-year-old girl Suraphltchaya Khamsa where prolific drug dealer Chaiwat Boongarin was there after she had become associated with him as part of a honey trap.

They were both last seen together riding off on Ben’s motorbike on Saturday night.

Ben’s remains were discovered the following day, three miles from his home.

The killer, known as Wat, allegedly confessed to killing Ben but initially claimed that he had no knowledge of Suraphltchaya Khamsa’s whereabouts.

Police began a search for the 15-year-old after he family believed she was still alive but being held against her will and on Saturday morning confirmed the news that her body had been found.

Her parents and grandparents identified the body at the scene, in a woodland just off the main north-south highway near Lampang, from the braces on her teeth and the jewellery she was wearing.

A source told the MailOnline: “The search team have found her body.

“The killer Wat led officers to her grave.

“She had been murdered and buried in woods by the side of the main highway.”

Police Major General Mongkol Sampawapol, commander of Lampang Provincial Police, said: “Police received intelligence gathered from the search operation about the location of the body.

“The suspect who admitted to killing the boy denies killing the girl. He says that somebody else attacked her and buried her body in the woods.

“We suspect that the suspect is responsible for both murders. However, police will also continue investigating the deaths to check if anybody else was involved.

“The female victim’s body is now being sent to hospital for an autopsy to find traces of rape or sexual assault, because the suspect has a history of these crimes.

“There were signs of bruising on her face and it is expected that she was hit with a solid object until she died.”

Local police are continuing to interrogate sex crimes convict Chaiwat Boongarin, who denies killing Suraphltchaya. If found guilty of one, or both cases, he is likely to face the death penalty.
