‘Read the room’
A bakery in Australia says it has received “emails threatening to kill us” after they sent a prank package of a severed finger cake and bottle of vodka to Amber Heard.
Heard is currently involved in a bitter defamation trial with her former husband Johnny Depp, and the joke package is in reference to one alleged incident that has been brought up on numerous occasions in the courtroom.
During the trial, Depp took to the stand and recounted how he suffered his infamous finger injury in 2015.
He told the court that Heard “hurled” a bottle at him, which sliced the tip of his finger off, and left his hand looking “like Vesuvius” as blood poured out.
In response to this, Dessert Boxes decided to send a package to Amber Heard.
They shared a video on TikTok of the package with the caption: “We’re sending Amber Heard a box!”
Inside the box was a hand-shaped cake with the middle finger cut off, and a bottle of vodka.
The bakery added they had kept the severed piece of cake to send to Depp.
The video has since been viewed more than 555,000 times and racked up almost 15,000 likes.

But not everyone saw the funny side of the package, with one person labelling it “tone deaf.”
Another asked: “This meant to be funny?”
A third commented: “POV: how to go out of business.”
And someone else said the bakery should “read the room.”
Dessert Boxes have since confirmed that they did send the cake to Head and have received “emails from people threatening to kill us.”
They told indy100: “It is the most talked about thing on TikTok at the moment so we expected this. We’ve received a lot of emails from fans overseas wanting to purchase from us and support us. We’ve also received emails from people threatening to kill us.”
Heard denies causing the wound, and has claimed Depp suffered the injury whilst he sexually assaulted her with a bottle.
The trial in Virginia has seen a number of shocking allegations made by Heard towards Depp, with Heard describing a number of alleged incidents in which her former husband was abusive towards her.
Depp is currently suing his former wife Heard for defamation over a Washington Post op-ed she wrote in 2018 in which she discussed the subject of domestic abuse.
Depp’s team argue that the piece falsely implies that Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp while they were married from 2015 to 2017. He is seeking $50m in damages.
He denies ever abusing Heard.
Heard is in turn suing her former husband, accusing him of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and labelling his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”
She has asked for immunity from Depp’s complaint, and $100m in damages.
