Andrew Tate issues statement after being released from house arrest

Tate has been under house arrest for several months

Andrew Tate has been released from house arrest, some seven months after his initial arrest.

A court in Bucharest ordered that the restriction be lifted as the influencer, and his brother Tristan, await trial on charges of human trafficking and rape.

The court has placed them under judicial control, a lighter restrictive measure.

The pair can now, according to the BBC, move freely around Bucharest and the surrounding district where they live. They remain subject to judicial controls for 60 days.

They must report to the police when ordered to, and must inform them of any change of address. They are also banned from contacting the two Romanian associates accused alongside them, the witnesses, or the alleged victims or their families.

Breaking the rules could lead to a return to house arrest, or preventative detention.

The Bucharest court of appeals said in a written ruling that it “replaces the house arrest measure with that of judicial control for a period of 60 days from August 4 until October 2”.

Tate was indicted in June along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian female suspects for human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. The group were initially arrested in December and the brothers spent several months in prison.

In his first statement since being released, the influencer detailed the amount of time he had spent in jail and under house arrested, “after an inditement based on nothing.”

He said he was now off to the mosque.
