Grocery shopping can be a real mixed bag for many people.
Some enjoy perusing the many aisles of possibilities while many despair at the thought of impending doom of finding out how much your shop will cost.
Well for one lucky shopper, check-out-dread could be a thing of the past - or at least for a year.
One of Britain's most popular supermarkets, Aldi, is offering one person the chance to have free groceries for the entire year.
This prize comes in the form of their 'first-ever Superfan Card'.
Of course to be bestowed with the honour of Aldi's thriftiest shopper, you need to earn it first, which requires people to write and send in a 250 word explainer of why they deserve to be the winner.
Whether this means expressing your love for the middle aisle, off-brand alternatives and all things Kevin the Carrot, or just explaining why you deserve to win, that's up to you.
Judges at Aldi will then look over the submission and pick a winner who will become the only person in the UK to hold this exclusive card.
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi, said: “We know how passionate our customers are about Aldi, and we wanted to find a way to give something truly special back to Aldi’s biggest fan.
“We can’t wait to see the creativity and enthusiasm in the entries. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we’re thrilled to be launching it.”
Of course, the card won't be limitless with Aldi figuring out a suitable amount based on the average UK household spend which sits at £4,124 per year as cited by the Office of National Statistics.
Therefore, the supermarket said they would put £5,000 on the card, giving the winner a monthly spend of £417 per month - nice.
Aldi wrote on their website: "Aldi’s Superfan Card will be worth £5,000 to ensure the winner can bag not just the essentials, but the exciting extras too – whether that’s an air-fryer, a new skincare routine, or a classic inflatable kayak!"
To apply, entrants will need to share their entry via the email address: aldicompetitions@citypress.co.uk, along with their name, age and where they are from.
The deadline for entries is 31st October at 11:59pm and the successful applicant will be contacted by 30th November 2024.
Entrants must be over the age of 18.

OPINION: Starmer was wrong in a world that doesn’t know how to be right
Starmer failed because modern politics no longer rewards competence. It rewards performance. Sir Keir Starmer announced his resignation today, bringing to an end a premiership that was as relentlessly criticised as it was quietly consequential. In an address to the nation on Monday morning from Downing Street, Starmer gave an emotional speech in which he […]
