The documentary Surviving R. Kelly has sparked a brand new wave of discussion surrounding the R&B singer and his controversial behaviour.
One of the most difficult aspects of the docu-series to watch is the bits that have a closer look at Kelly's relationship and marriage with the singer Aaliyah.
He was 27 when the two got illegally married. Aaliyah was a teen R&B sensation, who tragically died in a plane crash in 2001 at the age of 22.
Aaliyah was married to R. Kelly when she was 15 but was said to be listed as 18 on the official marriage certificate.
There have been suggestions that Kelly never actually knew her real age, however, a video has emerged of R. Kelly describing her as "14-years-old" while recording with her in a studio.
He also calls her "baby" a number of times while offering her advice in the studio.

R. Kelly seemed to poke fun at the illegal marriage when he wrote the song 'Age Ain't Nothing But A Number' for Aaliyah back in 1994, which she sang when she was 15-years-old.
R. Kelly has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
