As of Saturday, Kanye West is no longer on Twitter or Instagram.
Vanishing following a couple of weeks of intense controversy surrounding his support of Donald Trump, it appears Ye is no longer into the idea of making himself look bad on the popular social media platforms.
Sending out tweets promising a new album that never materialised and then suggesting that the 13th Amendment should be abolished, it's probably a good idea that the artist formerly known as Kanye West takes this break.
Actor Chris Evans and singer Lana Del Rey will be two people happy that he's left the building as far as social media goes.
Chris Evans quote-tweeted him, writing, "There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue."
While over on Instagram, Lana Del Rey commented on a picture of West he’d posted in a 'Make America Great Again' hat, writing, "Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture."
Ye has always had a love/hate relationship with Twitter, having previously criticised it for making people with fewer followers feel bad.
Could this all be in an effort to finally get his head in the game and focus on finishing the album he's been promising us? In a recent interview with TMZ, Ye said that he's off to Africa to work on Yandhi.
"So this is the type of energy that we're putting into the album, so we're going to Africa in two weeks to record," he said. "I felt this energy when I was in Chicago, I felt the roots. But we have to go to what is known as Africa. I need to go, I need to find out what it’s really called. Just grab the soil and be and cook food, five meals a day so the metabolism stays up, have my kids in the studio, have the mic out in the open so you can hear nature while we’re recording."
More on Kanye when Kanye does more Kanye stuff, which will likely be in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
