‘I do my kids’ homework for them so they aren’t stressed'

‘I’m not going to have them stress over freaking maths problems’

A mum has sparked debate after revealing that she often does her children’s homework for them so that they don’t get “stressed.”

In a post on TikTok, mum-of-two Lottie listed some “controversial things” her and her husband do as parents for their daughters, the who are in Year 3 and Year 5.

After listing off things such as not imposing any religion on her two daughters and happily engaging in public displays of affection in front of her kids, Lottie then revealed her controversial homework policy.

She said: “I will help do my kids’ homework with them.

“I know every parent helps, but if my kids are busy or if they’re rushing, I will do it [the homework].

Justifying herself, she continued: “I’m not going to have them stress over freaking maths problems they don’t have time to do. I’ll do it, screw it,

“It may not be right but I will help.”

She added that she does the “majority of their projects for them” as well.

The video, which has racked up more than 336,000 views, sparked plenty of debate in the comments amongst parents.

Some criticised her for her parenting style though, accusing her of promoting laziness in her daughters.

“Doing your child’s work for them won’t help them in the long run unless you want them to grow up to be entitled and lazy,” one mum said.

Someone else said: “Agree with everything except the homework thing. They’re not really learning anything by you doing it. But appreciate you wanting to take stress away.”

But the majority of comments reckoned Lottie had the right idea, agreeing with her approach and saying they often did the same thing with their kids.

Oner parent wrote: “I’m so glad I’m not the only one who does my kids homework when they have other things going on.”

“This is such amazing parenting I aspire to be like this when I’m a mum!” another added.

A third said: “When I grow up I will do my kids’ homework too because I know it’s hard even if you have a parent to help.”

And someone else was simply impressed that the mum had the brain power to do her kids’ homework, explaining that her parents were “always too confused to help.”
