From 10 August, 32 Morrisons cafés across the UK will begin serving the “world famous” fish and chips under a “Proudly Serving” model, with the potential for a nationwide rollout if it proves popular. As Metro reported, the deal builds on a chilled range that hit Morrisons shelves last year.

What Harry Ramsden’s is serving

Founded in Guiseley, West Yorkshire, in 1928, Harry Ramsden’s is Britain’s oldest restaurant chain and one of its best known.

Its menu of battered fish, chunky chips, mushy peas and chip shop curry sauce and gravy will now be served fresh in-store, meaning shoppers no longer have to wait until they get home to enjoy the signature spread.

James Fleming, chief executive of Harry Ramsden’s Group, said the tie-up was a chance to reach a far wider audience through a trusted retailer:

"This partnership represents a significant opportunity to bring the Harry Ramsden’s brand to millions of customers across the UK."

The tie-up marks a fresh chapter for a chain that now has just eight standalone outlets, down from a peak of 50, after parent company Deep Blue shifted its focus to product licensing and global franchising following its 2019 acquisition.
