‘Suddenly, more people backed out, including the c*** maid of honour’
A bride-to-be cancelled her wedding after her friends reportedly refused to pay nearly £1,000 each to attend.
The woman, known only as Susan, was left fuming after her nearest and dearest decided to skip her nuptials rather than pay the hefty fee to watch her tie the knot, Tyler reported.
The Canadian wanted to have her “fairytale” wedding, but when she worked out it was going to cost around $60,000 (£34,600), she asked the wedding party, to come to the party, financially.
In a lengthy, expletive-laden Facebook post, Susan explained that the wedding was not only off, but so was the relationship.
Susan announced, “with great sadness” that the wedding was off and apologised for the short notice. The wedding was due to take place in four days.
Susan went on to reveal she and her fiancé had also broken up “due to some recent and irreparable problems”.
“We have decided to end our relationship and not go forth with any future proceedings,” she added.
In her post, Susan went on to question how the couple could have the wedding “we dreamed of without proper funding?”
“We’d sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,600 (£925). We talked to a few people who even promised us more to make our dream come true,” she explained.
“My maid of honour pledged $5,000 along with her planning services. We tearfully thanked and accepted. My ex’s family offered to contribute $3,000.”
Susan said her request for other guests to pay £1,000 was “not f****** out of the ordinary.”
“We made it clear. If you couldn’t contribute, you weren’t invited to our exclusive wedding. It’s a once and a lifetime party.”
Trying to justify the cash request, Susan explained just what her guests were missing out on: “‘Our love was like a fairytale, we wanted an extravagant blowout wedding… a local psychic told us to go with the most expensive option, and we thought why the hell not?”
Susan continued: “We just needed a little push. Our dream wedding amounted to $60,000… All we asked was for a little help from our friends and family to make it happen.”
Tyler reported that only eight guests RSVP’d with the required payment, leaving Susan, “f****** livid.”
“How was this supposed to happen without a little help from our friends. To make matters worse, my ex’s family took back their offer,” Susan wrote.
“Suddenly, more people backed out, including the c*** maid of honour. My best friend since childhood. My second family. I was so shocked and tearful.”
Having seemingly gathered her composure, Susan concluded: “How hard would it to have been to f****** give me money for my wedding.”
She concluded by telling everyone she was going to spend the next two months backpacking through South America.
“Goodbye. See you in two months. Friendly reminder to you c****. Don’t think you own me. I am cutting all of you snakes off. I am living my life alone now.”
