There’s a nasty side effect when you don’t eat breakfast

We've never thought of this.

We’ve never thought of this.

It’s well known that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It kickstarts your metabolism and gives you the energy you need for the day.

But a lot of people still skip breakfast for different reasons. Sometimes you might be in a rush; other times you might not have any food in the house or you simply just don’t fancy it.

Well, you might want to rethink your morning routine, because even though you mightn’t think breakfast is that important, you will do after hearing this.

Apparently not having breakfast can lead to bad breath. According to The Daily Mail, by not eating first thing in the morning, it can allow odour-causing bacteria to linger in the mouth. You need to eat the right kind of food for breakfast to ‘flush away the bacteria’.

Dr Mervyn Druian, of the London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry, said:

“Skipping breakfast is one of the worst dirty habits for bad breath as it leaves the morning mouth dry allowing bacteria to linger.

However, choosing something quick like a cereal bar can supply the mouth with sugar creating an even greater environment for bacteria to grow.”

He advises that you eat a piece of fruit and drink some water at the very least every morning to flush the bacteria away.
