Jada Pinkett Smith causes outrage for ‘disgusting’ treatment of Will Smith

'Jada has been embarrassing Will for years'

The 52-year-old revealed that herself and Smith were separated in a completely unexpected interview while promoting her upcoming memoir, Worthy.

In interviews with the Today show and People, Smith claimed the pair had lived "completely separate lives" since 2016.

While they are still legally married, the couple are not romantically together.

Speaking to People, Jada said: “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like.”

She added: “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.

“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through … whatever.

“I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”

However in the aftermath of Pinkett Smith's confession, many have claimed that she made the announcement for "clout".

One person wrote: "Whatever decisions Will and Jada made in their marriage is their business. But don't lie and say that y’all don’t see that this woman has been on a mission to publicly humiliate, manipulate, and emasculate this man for the past few years. It’s just disgusting."

Another said: "So why have that Red Table Talk like they were together? Man, she needs to drop Smith from her last name and go back to Jada Pinkett."

A third wrote: "Such a liar. She is just trying to do damage control to her own reputation. The public is over it. We see you Jada."

While a fourth added: "Jada is just trying to sell her book because why after seven years of so much drama between them why they want to now tell us that they are not even together. Boring and annoying."

Others claim that Jada is simply embarrassing Will Smith, writing: "Man… Jada needs to stop embarrassing Will at this point."

Another said: "Jada has been embarrassing Will for years."
