Grab your fans because the UK is set for another heatwave

We’ve still got sunburn from the last one

Brits will have to brace for more high temperatures this summer as yet another heatwave is said to be on its way this month.

Arriving in time for the August bank holiday, the Met Office has warned that thermometers are set to reach above 30c in parts of the country for the long weekend of August 26 to 29.

While many will no doubt be rejoicing at news of yet more sunshine, others who struggled in the record-breaking heatwave last month will be dreading it. But at least the last one helped prepare you.

The July scorcher which saw a new highest-ever temperature recorded in the UK (40.3C) was so hot that it caused rare wildfires to break out across the country, workers sent home and people even booking hotel rooms simply for aircon.

Since then however, the UK climate has almost flipped on its head, with thunderstorms across large parts of Britain and even flash flooding in London:

At present, weather experts are forecasting more outbreaks of rain but interspersed with drier, sunnier spells over the coming days. However, as we creep closer towards the end of the month and the bank holiday, the dial is set to go comfortably above 20C for at least three days.

With the UK once again receiving some much needed rainfall, it remains to be seen whether the current hosepipe and sprinkler ban deployed across parts of the nation will be scaled back or kept intact as the public prepares for more hot and dry conditions.
