Antonio Valencia has appeared to confirm that he is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

It has been thought by many that he is set to join his former teammate at DC United in the MLS.

Last week Valencia retweeted a post from a fan wishing him well at DC United, after the this tweet claimed that one of Rooney or Valencia requested that the Ecuador international join the American club.

The Manchester United captain has only featured once under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in a 2-0 away win against Newcastle, since Jose Mourinho was sacked as United boss in December.

During his ten year spell at Old Trafford, Antonio Valencia has won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and a Europa League trophy.

He arrived in the same summer that Cristiano Ronaldo departed for Real Madrid. With big shoes to fill, not everyone was convinced to begin with, but Valencia eventually found his feet and became a key member of the squad.

But he will be 34 by the time next season comes around, and as United look to refresh the squad, that will involve letting players like him go.

Valencia had previously been linked with a move to Inter Milan, but his recent Twitter activity would suggest that he is set to end his career stateside while trying to rekindle the relationship with Wayne Rooney that saw him score so many goals around the turn of the decade.
