Quality Street have announced the return of a crowd-pleaser this Christmas

It's quality news.

Paul Moore

People missed it a lot last year.

In some quarters, there was absolute outrage last September when Nestlé announced that they would no longer be hosting Toffee Deluxe in their boxes.

For the first time since 1919, the sweet was left aside and replaced by a new sweet called Honeycomb Crunch.

That decision sparked a huge reaction online as the people of the UK flocked to social media to express their views at the news. At the time, Nestlé’s reasoning for the Deluxe cut was largely down to customers complaining that Quality Street is too toffee-heavy – who are these people? – but thankfully, the Toffee Deluxe is making a triumphant return to the Quality Street box after a 12-month absence.

Yes, the Toffee Deluxe is returning to save Christmas. Well, that’s a bit overdramatic but chocolate lovers will be happy!

If you love the Honeycomb Crunch then don’t despair because the newest sweet will also stay in tubs, tins and all other packs of the assortment.

It’s the first time that Quality Street has featured more than 12 individual sweets for a number of years.

Jonathan Smith, Senior Brand Manager for Quality Street said: “The reaction to Honeycomb Crunch replacing Toffee Deluxe last year was incredible and, although a lot the comments were tongue in cheek, it was obvious that there is still a great deal of fondness for the Toffee Deluxe out there.Quality Street is a brand that is all about bringing families and friends together through the love of each person’s individual favourite sweet so we are delighted to be keeping both sweets in the assortment and giving consumers even more choice, moving from 12 to 13 different sweets overall.

At least the annual ‘Christmas fight for the chocolates’ will last longer this year!
