Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua channels Muhammed Ali in training video

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee

When you look at British heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua, the comparisons with the great Muhammed Ali are evident.

Both are athletic, nimble, powerful punchers blessed with true boxing ability (unlike a lot of the sluggers in the heavyweight division these days). They’re even the same 107kg weight.

And here’s the proof Watford-born Joshua has been channelling his inner Ali as he prepares for his biggest fight to date against Dillian Whyte for the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title.

Former world heavyweight champion Ali famously trained in a swimming pool, using the water resistance to help his cardio and stamina and now Britain’s great heavyweight hope has too, hitting some punching combos in the pool.

But Joshua is ‘adding artillery’ with some pretty tough-looking new school training ready for his title shot.

The man, who is still undefeated after a series of stunning knock-outs, was hitting some plyometic jumps, landmine presses and some unilateral core work on the rip trainer to help him beef up those powerful hooks.

He looks ready to flatten Whyte at the 02 Arena on September 12.
