The class of 2017 at the University of Southern California were given a treat this week when one of the university’s most famous alumni dropped by to deliver the commencement speech.
Such an important address requires a lot of people to be thanked and a lot of boxes ticked, but as one of the funniest men alive, it was inevitable that Will Ferrell was going to have the audience in hysterics at some point.
The speech, over 25 minutes in total, delivered plenty of laughs – particularly when Ferrell threw in a few self-deprecating references to his own career early on – but he saved the best ‘til last, belting out a version of the Whitney Houston classic ‘I Will Always Love You’.
If you have the time, the speech in its entirety is well worth a listen, but in an age where attention spans are steadily dwindling, you might want to skip ahead to 23:25 for the icing on the cake.
